SiteMinder Welcomes New Data and Tech Leaders to Harness AI and Machine Learning for Global Hotel Industry
Tuesday, March 11, 2025

SiteMinder, a notable entity on the ASX 200 and a leader in hotel distribution and revenue management, recently announced two strategic additions to its executive team, aiming to harness the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in the hospitality sector.
Mike Rogers, a co-founder of SiteMinder, will transition from his role as Chief Technology Officer to Chief Data Officer. In this new capacity, Mike will spearhead the company’s data strategy and enhance its data science endeavors. Known for his pioneering work in cloud computing and his role in propelling the hotel industry’s technological transformation, Mike was instrumental in launching SiteMinder’s SaaS-based distribution platform in 2006. This platform has since become the primary choice for over 47,000 hotels across 150 countries, managing over 125 million online bookings annually. In his revamped role, Mike is set to leverage SiteMinder’s extensive data resources to foster innovation.
Joining the team as Chief Technology Officer is Tomas Varsavsky, who brings over a quarter-century of experience in technology. His previous ten-year tenure at REA Group, a top ASX 100 property marketing firm, saw him as Chief Technology and Data Officer, overseeing the tech and data frameworks that supported REA’s products and operations. His portfolio also includes significant roles and consultancies at organizations like Catch, ThoughtWorks, LonelyPlanet, Insignia, ANZ, National Australia Bank, Cbus Super, and Sensis & Ericsson. As SiteMinder’s new CTO, Tomas is tasked with scaling and enhancing the engineering team to maintain the delivery of transformative solutions for the company.
These executive shifts are part of SiteMinder’s broader strategy to evolve its technology infrastructure into a ‘Smart Platform,’ which aims to infuse intelligence and automation into the fragmented hotel industry. In 2023, the company also launched a new initiative to democratize advanced revenue management tools for hotels worldwide, addressing the growing challenges in the travel industry.
“Mike and Tom’s appointments are a direct response to the convergence we are seeing in technology and data. Ultimately, we know that, today, the most powerful technology in the world, including AI and machine learning, is built off vast amounts of data – which have underpinned SiteMinder’s success to date,” says Sankar Narayan, CEO and Managing Director at SiteMinder. “Mike and Tom will bring our data engineering and tech teams more closely together, to unlock the potential of using one of our most unique and significant assets – our data, the breadth and depth of which is unmatched in our industry. Importantly, they will open new opportunities for innovation and efficiency for hoteliers who lack the time and expertise to drive these capabilities, themselves.”
