CLC Performing Arts Center presents Kevin Kling – Brainerd Dispatch

BRAINERD — Storyteller Kevin Kling presents “The Love Show” at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Chalberg Theatre at Central Lakes College in Brainerd.

This event is part of the Central Lakes College Performing Arts Center’s Cultural Arts Series, which showcases exceptional talent from across the region and beyond.

Kling, hailed as a Minnesota state treasure, is a playwright, actor, author, and storyteller known for his rich humor and unique perspective. His work reflects life’s challenges and triumphs, informed by his own experiences, including a congenital birth disorder and partial paralysis from a motorcycle accident.

Kling’s storytelling talents have taken him from local libraries and gymnasiums to prestigious venues like The Kennedy Center, Off-Broadway theaters, and international festivals in Australia, Europe, and Thailand. His accolades include fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and The McKnight Foundation, as well as awards such as the Whiting Award and the Eric Peterson Award.

“The Love Show” brings together a team of talent, including Prudence Johnson, Dan Chouinard, Claudia Schmidt, Dane Stauffer, Bradley Greenwald, and Simone Perrin.

In a world that often feels divided, “The Love Show” is a reminder that love is the ultimate superpower. Don’t miss this Valentine’s weekend celebration of connection, music, and storytelling.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.

Hi, I’m the Brainerd Dispatch. I started working a few days before Christmas in 1881 and became a daily paper two years later. I’ve gone through a lot of changes over the years, but what has never changed is my commitment to community and to local journalism. I’ve got an entire team of dedicated people who work night and day to make sure I go out every morning, whether in print, as an e-edition, via an app or with additional information at www.brainerddispatch.com. News, weather, sports — videos, photos, podcasts and social media — all covering stories from central Minnesota about your neighbors, your lakes, your communities, your challenges and your opportunities. It’s all part of the effort to keep people connected and informed. And we couldn’t do it without support.
