Get ready to let the good times roll in Colorado Springs!

Mardi Gras, landing on March 4 this year, will bring festive celebrations and events to the Colorado Springs area starting this weekend. 

A parade, gumbo cook-off, live music, dancing, and classic Cajun eats will bring the spirit of the bayou to your backyard—no flight required.


When: February 28, 12 p.m.

Enjoy a memorable afternoon “high tea,” but make it Mardi Gras style. A local Colorado Springs tea shop is offering a special Mardi Gras menu that includes Cajun chicken salad sandwiches, seasonal scones, hurricane cupcakes and beignets.


When: February 28, 7 p.m.

Head to Summa Restaurant & Pub for a Mardi Gras Party complete with gumbo, costumes, dancing and of course, live music. Each ticket costs $15 if you purchase online and $20 if you show up at the door. Gumbo is included with a ticket purchase. Come dressed up in your beads!

This special cook-off is part of Manitou Springs’ Carnivale Weekend. For just 75 cents a sample, gumbo aficionados can try gumbo creations from 20 talented chefs. Once you’ve tasted them all, you can vote for your favorite.

Grab your beads and masks and head to Manitou’s Carnivale Community Parade to celebrate Mardi Gras. There will be an awards ceremony following the parade at Soda Springs Park for best group/costumes.


When: March 2, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: 7350 Pine Creek Road

The Margarita at Pine Creek’s annual Mardi Gras Brunch is almost here—so get your reservations in soon. They are offering a three-course menu infused with flavors from “The Big Easy,” including chicken & andouille sausage gumbo, crawfish & tasso etouffee with eggs, waffles with bourbon caramelized bananas & toasted Pecans and bread pudding as an option for dessert.
