Your guide to campus arts and entertainment for spring 2025 | Lifestyles

The university hosts many arts events each semester – concerts, plays, guest artists – at three major locations on and off campus: the Faulkner Performing Arts Center (FPAC), the Fine Arts building and Global Campus, located in the downtown square. Check out the events below to know when and where to go for the best theater, dance and music on campus. 

At the Faulkner Performing Arts Center:

 

Jan. 31 What is America: Rhythm Nation by PUBLIQuartet 

PUBLIQuartet will perform “What is America: Rhythm Nation,” featuring various artists. The show represents different American movements and their unspoken narrative spirit. Tickets can be purchased here. 

Feb. 2 and 3 Graduate Recital and Accent Faculty Concert Series

TheMusic Department presents Miles Wheeler and Thomas Baker in their graduate recital. The Accent Faculty concert series features Dr. Cox Mixdorf on the trombone and Dr. Miroslava Panayotava on piano. Both the Graduate Recital and Accent Faculty Concert series are free. 

Feb. 7 Black Music Symposium Lecture

Principal oboist, Titus Underwood of the Nashville Symphony, will lead a morning oboe masterclass. This event is free to the public. 

Feb. 27 Comedian Mike Paramore

Mike Paramore, an uplifting and energetic comedian, has a knack for making people feel at ease. His two DryBar Comedy specials, “You’ve Just Been Flirted With” and “I Probably Shouldn’t Say This,” have made him a force to be reckoned with in the comedy world. He has also been featured on AXTV’s “Live at Gotham” in NYC and the show “Laughs.” Tickets can be purchased here. 

May 3 Exposed: A Ballet on the Trails

Combining movement with photography, Umpheltt exposes the audience to his most recent experience with nature. Tickets can be purchased here.

At the Fine Arts Center:

Feb. 14-23 Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson

TheTheatre Department presents Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson, one of America’s most produced playwrights. Henrietta Leavitt, a prominent 19th-century astronomer, changed how we study the heavens and Earth. Tickets can be purchased here.

April 25-27 Continuum: Dance Concert

The UA dance companyThe Movement, presents their Continuum. Tickets can be purchased here.

At Global Campus:

April 11-15 The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

TheTheatre Department presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which was nominated for six Tonys and winner of two, including best book of a musical. This fast-paced show is a lot of fun and includes audience participation! Tickets can be purchased here.
